At Happy Hive Day Nurseries we strive for our children to grow into strong, independent, kind, resilient, confident, non-judgemental, grateful individuals.

Our ethos:

We believe in providing the children with opportunities to open magical doors to awe and wonder through everyday play experiences.

Our vision:

We would like to share our journey, and what inspired us, when transforming our ‘Blank Canvas’ into a Calm, Warm, and Welcoming Environment.

As a team our vision is to be able to provide our children with a home from home experience by working closely with our parents and carers to be an extended and supportive family environment as well as giving the children a space to explore, play, grow and develop as individuals.

Our rooms:

Baby Room

In our Baby room we have included black and white pictures, objects and mobiles. Research shows that babies need black and white visual stimulation. In the first year of life there are limitations in a babies vision, and they respond well to simple, bold patterns with high contrast. We have also provided Musical instruments as this is a great way for a nonverbal individual (babies) to express themselves.

Toddler Room

In our toddler room, we have purposely limited table space as we recognize that a toddler needs to move around freely and not sit still for long periods of time. Again, we have provided a large wall mirror, as well as puppets, to encourage communication and to build relationships with others. We have role play materials to encourage imagination and communication.

Pre-School Room

In our Pre-School the seven areas of learning have been thought about and implemented throughout. Our children will engage in imaginary play in our home corner or by using the loose parts to create their very own constructions and models. We also have a messy area where water or sand will help the children to discover weight, shape, space and measure.

Outdoor Play

Play in the garden will be available on a daily basis and in all weathers. We will also be providing opportunities for the children to take part in football / multi-sport lessons and dancing. In our garden we have climbing equipment, number-based activities, pots and pans to create music and a mud kitchen. Mark making will be accessible, again in a variety of different ways.

“We will encourage the children to be independent curious, active learners, by using open ended resources, natural materials, textures and smells”.
